Establishment of Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC) and The University of Canterbury (New Zealand) Collaboration by MOU signing ceremony on Wednesday 13 September 2023.

The MOU signing ceremony takes place at the PAILIN Auditorium, VISTEA (Wangchan Valley) from 09.00-12.00.  

Prominent figures from UC, New Zealand and KU, Thailand are giving the scientific talks at the ceremony, namely,

  1. Dr. Alex Yip, Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, The University of Canterbury, New Zealand: “Microporous Materials for Sustainable Chemical Engineering”
  2. Dr. Metta Chareonpanich, Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University: “Catalyzing Sustainable Development Goals through Nanocatalysts and Nanomaterials”

Also, we are having the collaborative Ph. D. Thesis Dissertation from Ms. Ploychanok Iadrat: “Design of Hierarchical Zeolites and Zeolites/Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) Composites for Catalytic Conversion of Alcohols and Antibacterial Applications” (E136 room).

The 9th Franco-Thai Symposium

On 30th May 2023, we have organized the 9th Franco-Thai Symposium at Bordeaux INP in relation with the International Research Project (IRP) « ChiraChem » supported by CNRS and the Global League-2023 by PMU-B to further strengthen the fruitful collaboration between France (Prof. Alexander Kuhn, University of Bordeaux & Dr. Gabriel Loget, University of Rennes) and Thailand (Assoc. Prof. Chularat Wattanakit & Prof. Adrian Flood, Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC)). First, Prof. Isabelle Gosse, Director of ENSMAC, gave the opening-speech to welcome all guests. Then the two PI partners, Prof. Alexander Kuhn and Assoc. Prof. Chularat Wattanakit explained the importance of the collaboration, past achievement, and the future evolution of the collaboration. During the whole day scientific perspectives regarding chirality and related topics were exposed by researchers from several partners.

Our collaboration between Bordeaux with VISTEC, and in particular the joint project ChiraChem, has just received the Tremplin ASEAN award from the French Academy of Science and the French Ministry of Research and higher education (BILATERAL RESEARCH COOPERATION AWARD between French and Thai partners). The award will be officially presented on 13 June 2023. at the occasion of a ceremony in Paris which is open to the general public.
